I have a tough time separating the original Matrix movie from the abominations that followed it. But I keep thinking back to the period between when the original was released and before the 2nd one came out, when I wasn't bitter toward the whole franchise.
So, despite the terrible sequels, I'm giving the original an 8 as a standalone movie.
